In case your eclipse is broken and for example cannot be updated anymore. It's a good idea to save some settings.
- File -> Export -> General -> Preferences
- Window -> Preferences -> Install/Update -> Available Software Sites
- Select the desired sites and hit the Export button
- Backup your workspace in order to have a way back
- Move your old installation out of the way
- Perform a fresh install
- Import previously exported settings and sites
